Magnetic Sockets feature bushing-free design.

Press Release Summary:

Designed for automated assembly operations, ProtoGrip(TM) Magnetic Sockets utilize rare earth/nylon magnetic material. By eliminating bushing, sockets maximize amount of space available for magnetic material, which provides extra strength needed to lift bolts and fasteners. Power version suits fast-moving assembly operations, while lower surface hardness of impact configuration is suited for high-impact applications. Over 70 sockets are available in mm and SAE sizes.

Stanley Proto Introduces Stronger ProtoGrip(TM) Magnetic Sockets

New bushing-free design helps increase grip strength Conyers, Georgia, August 29, 2005. Designed primarily for automated assembly operations, the new ProtoGrip(TM) Magnetic Sockets from Stanley-Proto feature a unique "no-bushing" design that boosts their magnetic strength. Previous magnetic sockets used a bushing to hold the magnet in place. By eliminating this bushing, the ProtoGrip Magnetic Socket increases the amount of space available for magnetic material. The magnetic material has also been upgraded to a rare earth/nylon blend. These factors combine to give the sockets their extra magnetic strength. ProtoGrip Magnetic Sockets are used primarily in automated assembly operations, when a socket is attached to a robotic drive tool. When the robot picks up a bolt and screws it into the assembly, the magnet provides the extra strength to help lift heavy bolts or fasteners, helping increase the efficiency of the assembly operation. The new design and extra magnetic strength also help to reduce or eliminate the possibility that the magnet will become separated from the socket. ProtoGrip Magnetic Sockets are available in both power and impact configurations, offering versatility for a variety of applications. The power configuration provides the durability necessary for fast-moving assembly operations, while the lower surface hardness of the impact configuration is ideal for high-impact applications where a tough socket is required. Over 70 different sockets are available (in mm and SAE) in 1/4, 3/8 and Ã,½ inch drive sizes.
