Magnetic Scrap Drums suit heavy-duty applications.

Press Release Summary:

Electromagnetic and Permanent Magnetic Drums enable automatic, continuous separation of ferrous materials from high-volume and heavy-duty applications. Electro Agitator type uses 2 different magnets to grasp and agitate ferrous, while non-agitating unit uses deep field radial pickup magnet to transfer ferrous around drum shell to discharge area. Permanent Magnetic drums use Erium® permanent magnets to project deep magnetic field capable of removing ferrous from distances up to 15 in.

Original Press Release:

Eriez® Electromagnetic and Permanent Magnetic Scrap Drums are Ideal for Heavy Duty Applications

Erie, Pa.-Newly designed Electromagnetic and Permanent Magnetic Drum separators from Eriez® enable automatic, continuous separation of ferrous materials from high volume and heavy duty applications. These drums feature exceptionally rugged construction to provide long service life with minimum maintenance.

Designed for the removal of ferrous material from shredded automobiles, bottom ash, slag and other recyclable scrap including chips, turnings and stampings, these drums offer a solution to difficult processing challenges. "Eriez engineers designed these drums to stand up to even the harshest conditions," said Dan Norrgran, Eriez Heavy Industries Market Manager.

Two types of Electromagnetic drums are available. The All Electro Agitator type utilizes a deep field rectangular-core pickup magnet to reach out and grasp the ferrous, and a second rectangular-core agitator magnet to flip or agitate the ferrous, cleaning it of contaminants like loose mud, paper, fluff and trash. A double drum scheme with counter rotation provides maximum cleaning.

Eriez also builds a non-agitating transfer design that uses a deep field radial pickup magnet to convey or transfer the ferrous around the drum shell to the discharge area. When used in top feed schemes, these drums provide maximum recovery. Eriez Scrap Drums also have wider magnetic fields to handle increased tonnages.

All permanent deep field Magnetic drum designs use Erium® permanent magnets to project a deep magnetic field capable of removing ferrous from distances of up to 15 inches (380 mm). The permanent non-electric scrap drums are ideal for applications with limited or unstable electrical power.

A wide variety of diameters, widths and magnetic strengths are available to provide the desired capacity and degree of separation at the lowest possible cost. Eriez specialists are available to assist customers and offer recommendations.
