ifm efector Introduces Magnetic Proximity Sensors with GMR Technology
EXTON, PA - April 18, 2005 - ifm elector's new line of magnetic proximity sensors incorporates Giant Magnetoresistive technology (GMR) to provide extremely high sensitivity to magnetic targets, ifm's proximity sensors detect magnets through all non-magnetizable materials including stainless steel, non-ferrous metal, aluminum, plastic, wood and glass. Designed for rugged industrial applications, the sensors are ideal for speed monitoring, U-tube position on diverter panels, and pigging systems used in the food and beverage industry.
With the integration of GMR technology, ifm's magnetic proximity sensors offer high switching frequencies of 5,000 Hz for fast processes and extremely long sensing ranges up to 70mm. The sensors are polarity independent and provide reliable position detection regardless of magnet orientation. The sensors offer excellent repeatability and stable operating characteristics on a wide temperature range of -13° to 158°F.
Tubular-style sensors are 316 stainless steel quick disconnect models in M8, M12, and Ml8 diameter housings. A miniature rectangular model can retrofit V3-style mechanical switches. For washdown applications, ifm offers Ml2 and Ml 8 diameter housings that are rated IP69K and feature an FDA-approved PEEK sensing face with a temperature range of 32° to 212°F.
Magnetic proximity sensors are 3-wire DC units. List price ranges from $65.00 (U.S.) to $80.00 (U.S.). Magnets range from $7.00 (U.S.) to $15.00 (U.S.)
