Magnetic Hall Sensors detect rotational speed of gear wheels.

Press Release Summary:

Providing non-contact operation that minimizes abrasive wear, MTRM 16 Hall Sensors detect both rotational direction and rpm speed of gear wheels in gearboxes and engines at up to 20,000 pulses. Units feature operating voltage of 8-28 Vdc, maximum switching frequency of 20 kHz, and operating temperature of -40 to +120°C. IP67-rated M12 full-metal housing has front face made of IP68-rated stainless steel, protecting electronics from aggressive environments.

IP68-Rated Hall Sensors Detect Rotational Speed of Wheels in Heavy-Duty Gearboxes and Engines

Wear-Free Magnetic Sensors For Rolling Stock and Other Industries

Southington, Conn. - Designed to detect both the rotational direction and rpm speed of gear wheels in gearboxes and engines at up to 20,000 pulses, the new Baumer MTRM 16 magnetic hall sensor is IP68-rated to operate reliably in harsh environments.

The compact sensor offers an operating voltage range from 8 to 28 VDC. With a maximum switching frequency of 20 kHz, the extremely robust sensor is built to withstand temperatures ranging from -40°C to +120°C. The sensor's IP67-rated M12 full-metal housing features a front face made of IP68 rated stainless steel, protecting the sensor's electronics from aggressive environments. The non-contact sensing principle minimizes abrasive wear and therefore maintenance effort. As a result, long-term, trouble free use is guaranteed.

The high speed MTRM 16 hall sensor is designed to meet stringent railroad standards, making it ideal for use on heavy vehicles, cranes, pumps/compressors, marine vessels, mining equipment, special machinery, wind turbines and other heavy-duty applications. The completely sealed and coated all-metal housing allows the sensor to be exposed continuously to environmental aggressors such as gear box lubrication oils.

The robust housing allows these sensors to be used in a diverse range of outdoor and indoor applications. MTRM 16 magnetic hall sensors can be used for motor current control, slip control, roll-back prevention, wheel slide prevention, optimized starting/braking, and speed control and evaluation.
