Magnetek Awarded Patent for HPV® 900AF Elevator Drive Technology

MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. – Magnetek, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAG), a leading designer and manufacturer of elevator drives, today announced the Company has been awarded a patent by the United States Patent and Trademark Office for use on Magnetek’s HPV® 900AF Elevator Drive. Protected by Patent No. 9,093,937, the new technology was issued for the method and apparatus for determining position for a permanent magnet elevator motor.

The HPV 900AF drive is engineered to meet the needs of today’s machine room-less (MRL) axial flux disk type motors. Its permanent magnet synchronous axial flux control capability provides optimal performance while delivering high overload capacity. The drive’s innovative design allows for operation of disc type motors via a rider wheel located on the sheave.

“Our HPV 900AF is a practical, affordable, and convenient solution when retaining an axial flux type PM motor system during an elevator modernization project,” said Ed Butte, director of Magnetek’s elevator business. “Given its simple installation, optimal performance, and efficient operation, the HPV 900AF provides the exceptional reliability found in other Magnetek drives.”
