Horizontal Machining Center Offers High Productivity

SUDBURY, MA - Fast and precise, the Matsuura H.Plus-405 is a large-capacity horizontal machining center for high-speed milling and contouring. Feed rates and rapid traverses to 1968 ipm in all axes, accelerations to 1 G, and a high-speed pallet changer combine to make it one of the most productive machines on the market. A maximum work envelope of Ø25.59" x 29.50", a maximum load capacity of 881 pounds, heavy-duty spindles, and a 31-station ATC provide the versatility to handle a wide range of production requirements.

The H.Plus-405 comes standard with a 12,000 rpm BT40 taper spindle that delivers high torque at low speeds and 30 HP (direct drive) at high speeds. Its high helical rigidity virtually eliminates backlash. Optional 20,000 rpm and 30,000 rpm spindles, coolant-through spindle, and high-pressure coolant systems with temperature controllers are also available. A high-speed 1° indexing table uses a large-diameter curvic coupling to provide accurate positioning (5 seconds, with a repeatability of ±2 seconds). An optional 0.001° table uses an Inductosyn scale and is capable of simultaneous fourth-axis machining.

A standard ATC has a chip-to-chip time of 3 seconds and can store 31 tools (optional maximum: 240), further enhancing the machine's versatility. The reliable high-speed pallet changer has a changing time of 7.5 seconds and can store two 19.68" x 19.68" pallets (optional maximum: 17).

New user-friendly Matsuura NC software features an intuitive visual interface that makes the H.Plus-405 easy to program and operate. Three-dimensional graphic display is available for real-time, on-screen workpiece simulation. Optional software packages include a remote monitoring system.

Performance features of the H.Plus-405 include low noise and low vibration, even at maximum speeds and feeds. The cast-iron bed has substantial ribbing and thick outer walls, forming a highly rigid base that is stabilized by a 5-point leveling system. All axes are equipped with telescopic, pantographic-type guards. The rigid, twin-walled column is thermally symmetric. The 3-row ball bearing groove design of the linear guides contributes to superb surface finish. To prevent the accumulation of swarf/chips inside the machine, the telescopic Z-axis cover has a steep slope; chips fall into gutters and are removed by coolant flow.
