Machine includes automatic tool changer with 20-tool magazine and Mazatrol Fusion 640 MT Pro CNC control with 64-bit RISC processor.

Original Press Release:

Mazak's Integrex 100-IIIST: Advanced Multi-Tasking Performance -- Turning Productivity Up 40%

(FLORENCE, KY) -- Mazak's new Integrex 100-IIIST continues to redefine real manufacturing productivity. For manufacturers seeking to efficiently produce a greater variety of parts in ever-decreasing lot sizes and more frequent deliveries, this third-generation multi-tasking machine tool combines the power and accuracy of a CNC machining center with the best of Mazak's deep experience producing 5-axis simultaneous multi-tasking lathes.

In the basic configuration, the Integrex 100-IIIST has a 6,000-rpm maximum turning spindle speed with 6-inch chuck and a milling spindle with 12,000-rpm maximum speed with an automatic tool changer and 20-tool magazine (40- and 80-tool magazines optional).

There are four configurations for the Integrex 100III:
o Integrex 100III without tailstock
o Integrex 100III with tailstock
o Integrex 100III with second spindle
o Integrex 100III with second spindle and lower turret

The second spindle eliminates work-in-process and reduces throughput time because parts no longer move from machine to machine with multiple setups. Parts are completed in one setup on one machine, with the benefits of significant cost reductions in setups, fixtures, tooling and an increase in dimensional quality. If a turned part needs to be machined on its back side, the Integrex 100-IIIST automatically transfers the part to the second spindle for additional machining without operator involvement.

The lower turret increases turning productivity 40%. It has nine tool positions and can perform simultaneous turning with the upper turret on both the main and second spindle headstocks.

High Performance and Best-in-Class Productivity
The main headstock on the Mazak Integrex 100-IIIST has an integral spindle/motor that handles both heavy-duty cutting at low speed and efficient production of aluminum or other non-ferrous metals at high speeds with equal ease. Automatic tool-changing time of 1.2 seconds (tool-to-tool) is the fastest in its class. The additional lower nine-station drum turret improves turning productivity 40%.

Regarding machine dynamics, the entire Integrex III series is equipped with linear guides on the X, Y, and Z axes, with rapid-traverse speeds on the Integrex 100-IIIST of 1181 ipm in X, 1024 ipm in Y, and 1299 ipm in Z. The exclusive Roller Gear Cam mechanism on the B axis achieves positioning in 0.0001-degree increments, ensuring high-precision machining from various angles.

Mazatrol Fusion 640 MT Pro CNC Control
Superb throughput and uptime of the Integrex 100-IIIST is ensured by the Mazatrol Fusion 640 MT Pro CNC control. Its 64-bit RISC processor executes faster processing speed than 32-bit systems and the powerful Mazatrol conversational or EIA/ISO format can be used for CNC programming. What's more the Mazatrol Fusion 640 CNC architecture fuses advanced CNC with PC technology to provide new levels of shop-floor communication and efficiency in real time.

Shop-floor programming tools include: Mazatrol interactive programming; tool libraries with cutting parameters; realistic 3D graphics for solid model part cutting and tool path simulation; and a Navigation function that suggests optimized cutting conditions to slash lead and setup times. Mazatrol Fusion 640 CNC can be easily networked with the rest of your operations using standard protocols.
