New Nexus Vertical Machining Center 510C from Mazak: Increased Performance, Exceptional Value

(Florence, KY) - New from Mazak Corp. (Florence, KY), the Vertical Center (VC) Nexus 510C achieves new levels of productivity and versatility for vertical machining tasks, all at an exceptional value for the investment. It is part of the new Nexus series of machine tools from Mazak, focused on providing advanced technology, increased productivity, and outstanding value for metalworking manufacturers.

Although ultimate improvements in vertical machining center efficiency are tied to part configuration and material, the VC Nexus 510C delivers up to 20% greater productivity than previous models through a number of factors. Maximum spindle speed is 12,000 rpm, driven by a 25-hp spindle motor. The high-speed rapid traverse rate of 1417 ipm at 0.5 G acceleration and 2.9 seconds chip-to-chip time slash non-cutting time in favor of increased production. A 15,000 rpm and 25,000 rpm high-speed spindle option with a 40-hp motor are available.

The VC Nexus 510C also provides a large machining area, with X-axis travel of 41.3 in., Y-axis range of 20 in., and Z-axis travel of 20 in. Table size is 51.18 in. x 21.65 in., with a load capacity of 2640 lbs. Overall machine dimensions, however, are 16% smaller than previous models, saving valuable floor space.

The tool magazine can store up to 30 tools (of 40 taper) with a maximum length of 13.8 in from the gauge line and a maximum diameter of 3.15 in. Tool-to-tool change time is 1.3 sec., and chip-to-chip time is a mere 2.9 sec.

The VC Nexus 510C also is economical to own and operate. Electric power consumption is cut 20% in standby mode compared to previous models. Air consumption is reduced 32%, and its grease lubrication system reduces waste oil by 57%.

Manufactured and assembled in Florence, KY, the Nexus series is the first line of Mazak's global machines, meaning they are also built in Mazak's Japan, and United Kingdom facilities using Mazak's Cyber Factory production system to further accelerate final assembly and delivery.
