Toshiba Teli Machine Vision System Provides Accurate & Simple Label Inspection & Gauging
IRVINE, CA, May 9, 2005 < Toshiba Teli America, Inc., the North American subsidiary of the Toshiba Teli, Inc., today introduced its Teli-brand iIS-010 Smart Camera, an integrated and easy-to-use image processing system that performs a variety of machine vision applications such as packaging and label inspection, barcode reading, pattern matching, gauging, and feature presence/absence.
A pre-packaged solution comprised of a high-performance CCD camera, control unit and software, the iIS-010 ("Intelligent Image Sensor") simplifies the deployment of machine vision capabilities without compromising measurement accuracy. Camera electronics support a 60Hz progressive scan frame rate and are completely housed within the compact iIS-010 assembly (150mm x 60mm 80mm) with a single cable connecting a remote head, double-speed VGA sensor. An intuitive computer interface, accessible through Microsoft® Explorer®, guides users during set-up and operation. The unit's simple calibration procedure factors out both perspective and non-linear lens distortion, providing high accuracy in metric, English or pixel measurements.
Three types of camera heads are available to customers: a C-mount, a 20mm cubic and a lipstock type depending on application needs.
In addition to its RS-232C serial interface, the iIS-010 offers 10/100base T Ethernet networking connectivity that permits it to be linked throughout the factory floor, enabling users to configure vision applications from off-site locations, monitor activity remotely, and share real time production data with management.
Rounding out its capabilities, the iIS-010 provides customer-defined history reports with detailed information on recent passed, failed and reworked parts. It can also generate a report of good and bad images of labels to help the user spot error trends.
ACCURATE GAUGING & LABEL INSPECTION
The iIS-010 is especially well suited for gauging and label inspection tasks.
The system has comprehensive set of gauging tools to help users achieve highly precise measurement of lines, angles between lines, ellipses and circles, arcs, Annuli, thread spacing ("wave tool"), multiple measures of length and spacing of parts such as pins on an electrical connector, and other part measures.
For inspection of labels on bottles, boxes, cans and packaged goods, the iIS-010 offers a host of user-defined features including label rotation, movement, and rejection thresholds that define the user's specific label quality criteria. Settings can be quickly redefined using a sliding bar from "lower" to "higher". A proprietary neural net allows the iIS-010 to automatically learn good labels and variations.
