Vision Components Introduces Its First Miniature Progressive Scan 50 Full Frame/Sec Machine Vision System

Vision Components GmbH, a leader in industrial machine vision, introduces the VCM50 the first miniature progressive scan, 50 frame/sec CCD smart camera. Even 100 or 200 frame/sec can be accomplished, when every second or fourth line is captured.

With its 100mm length, 30 mm diameter size, 100 gram weight and not even 1 watt power consumption it is probably the smallest off the shelf machine vision system in the industry. The camera may be purchased, at the manufacturer's actual list price for $742.

The progressive scan, 640x480 Pixel resolution SONY CCD sensor ensures sharp images even for fast moving parts. For example it is able to read 7-10 ECC200 Data Matrix codes per second from full frame images, and surely not only perfect printed codes, but even lazer edged, pinned or damaged codes do not represent any problems. And yet... it is much more than just a data matrix reader. The system can be freely programmed in C or parameterized in case of existing machine vision application programs.

Suitable for industrial applications, the VCM50's rugged construction and NEMA4 housing stands up to vibrations, shocks, and extreme temperatures while permitting precise measurements and tests. Its one of a kind housing integrates the LED ring lighting, optics, CCD sensor with binning and processor with a simple human interface for easy set up.

The process interface for the VCM50 allows 2 inputs and 4 outputs for direct control of external equipment, and for more complex control tasks, they can easily be interfaced to a PLC.

VC smart cameras, like the VCM50 can be used for a wide variety of motion detection and analyses, 2D and 3D measurements, inspection, orientation, biometrical identification, OCR, 2D bar codes, access control and many other tasks.

Vision Components GmbH will showcase its smart camera product line in booth 212 at the upcoming The Vision Show West in Santa Clara, CA November 19-21.
