Original Press Release:

Based on the Camera Link(TM) Standard, ipd's New NetSight II(TM) DCL Machine Vision System Provides Extensive Flexibility, Ease of Installation and Integration

BILLERICA, MA (January 12, 2005) - ipd, the intelligent products division of Coreco Imaging, Inc., announces the release of NetSight II DCL, a Camera Link version of the company's powerful NetSight II machine vision system that can process multiple image views simultaneously. Designed for applications that require line or area scan digital cameras, NetSight II DCL allows users to match the image of their choice to their inspection needs.

"Since NetSight II DCL is based on Camera Link, an interface standard that uses a dedicated cable connection and is designed for demanding environments, this machine vision system offers users unprecedented flexibility in a variety of applications, as well as ease of installation and integration-all in a rugged, cost-effective package," said Steve Geraghty, Director of ipd.

NetSight II DCL provides asynchronous acquisition of images from up to two Camera Link cameras (area or line scan formats) and one FireWire camera using an IEEE 1394 port. Equipped with a high-performance processor, 256 MB of program memory, 20 GB of storage memory and programmable digital I/O, NetSight II DCL delivers the power and flexibility to meet the application needs of end users, integrators and machine builders. Built-in Ethernet connectivity and compatibility with such industry protocols as EtherNet/IP and Modbus makes it easy to integrate NetSight II DCL into an existing factory and/or enterprise network.

NetSight II DCL uses the Sherlock(TM) vision software as its interface. A powerful inspection tool that has been deployed in thousands of installations worldwide, Sherlock is an easy-to-use graphical interface that is fully configurable for any application. Sherlock allows users to quickly prototype, benchmark and deploy solutions using a proven set of tools for alignment, gauging, identification, verification and general inspection applications. Sherlock is highly flexible in even the most complex tasks, providing inline scripting, support for custom algorithms and the ability to customize the user interface. For integrators or machine builders wishing to port their own software, NetSight II DCL is available with a library of C++ functions to access individual hardware components.

NetSight II DCL was designed for use in applications that require line or area scan digital cameras, such as unwrapping cylindrical objects or generating high-resolution images. This machine vision system can be used with a wide range of digital cameras, from high-end 8K line scan to 1K x 1K area scan cameras. Users can select from ipd's preferred camera offering or use NetSight II DCL's configurator tool to interface to the camera of their choice.

NetSight II DCL is offered as a bundled machine vision system or as a vision engine component to a custom design. Pricing for NetSight II DCL starts at $3,995.
