Original Press Release:

ipd's new iCheck(TM) Vision Appliance Is Easy to Use, Rapidly Deployed in Product and Assembly Verification Applications

BILLERICA, MA (October 27, 2003) - ipd, the intelligent products division of Coreco Imaging, Inc., announces the release of iCheck, the newest product in the company's line of easy-to-use, pre-packaged machine vision appliances for industrial end users. Designed for installation and operation by manufacturing engineers with little or no previous machine vision experience, iCheck can be used in a range of product and assembly verification applications. These include: detecting missing or incorrect products in a package; verifying that caps and safety seals are in place; verifying the presence, number and size of holes or notches in machined parts; reading and verifying product barcodes; and detecting stains, cracks or deformities on a surface.

"iCheck provides a simple but effective toolset that can be applied to a range of product verification applications," said Steve Geraghty, Director of ipd. "We've packaged a set of commonly used tools within the intuitive, user-friendly framework of our vision appliances. Now, users requiring general inspection capabilities can spend less time learning how to use their machine vision solution and more time enjoying improved product quality, greater productivity and bigger profits!"

All required software is resident within the iCheck vision appliance, and includes such tools as locate, area count, edge count, intensity, line distance, diameter, circularity, angle, barcode and surface flaw. Users access iCheck through a standard web browser, enabling them to configure, remotely monitor and debug their applications.

Users can also configure inputs that trigger inspection events and outputs that control such external automation equipment as PLCs and rejecters. The vision appliance's sophisticated internal control processor provides direct control of rejected products in simple applications, often making a PLC unnecessary.

ipd's line of vision appliances also includes:
o iLabel - accurately checks the placement and quality of labels on bottles, boxes, cans and other packaged goods;
o iGauge - ideal for a range of applications requiring precise optical measurements, including point positions, lines, angles, hole diameter and roundness.

Pricing for iCheck is $3,000. More information about ipd and its product offerings-including vision appliances, NetSight(TM) pre-integrated vision systems and the Sherlock(TM) Windows® -based, "point-and-click" software environment-can be found on the company's web site, www.goipd.com.
