Machine Sensors withstand temperatures to 115°C.

Press Release Summary:

Series MH Mobile Machine Sensors consist of magnetrostrictive sensing element, sensing electronics, and housing that protects internal components. Rod pressure housing comes in 7 and 10 mm with static pressure rating of 4,300 and 5,000 psi, respectively. Suited for embedded application inside hydraulic cylinders, series provides measuring range of 50-1,000 mm with accuracy of 0.005%. Units accept 10-32 Vdc and offer direct analog displacement output of 0-5 Vdc.

Temperature Rating Increased for Magnetostrictive Mobile Machine Sensor

CARY, N.C. (September 23, 2003) - Enhancing its line of mobile machine sensors for off-highway applications, MTS Sensors has increased its temperature rating to 115° (formerly 85°). The ability to withstand higher temperatures protects sensor electronics and increases accuracy to 1/1000" (from 1/10".)

"The General Temperature specifications for components to be used in the off highway machines is 105 Degrees C," said Mobile Hydraulics Manager, Fred Emanie. "Our newly rated standard product can withstand the high temperatures of hydraulic applications. This contributes to the overall ruggedness and reliability of MTS mobile machine sensors."

Priced comparably to potentiometers, MTS mobile machine sensors utilize non-contacting magnetostrictive technology to provide higher accuracy, repeatability and longer sensor life. Because of the non-contacting design, MTS sensors prevent wear and are virtually maintenance free. In addition, the sensors never need to be recalibrated regardless of power cut-off.

As with all Temposonics position sensors, each MH sensor is constructed of three primary components: the magnetostrictive sensing element, the sensing electronics, and a robust application housing that protects the internal components from environmental conditions. The MH sensor is designed for "embedded" application inside hydraulic cylinders with a minimal impact on the cylinder-installed envelope. The rod pressure housing comes in two diameters, 7 and 10 mm, with a static pressure rating of 4300 and 5000 PSI respectively.

The MH series provides a measuring range of 50-1000mm with an accuracy of 0.005% that is more than adequate for most mobile sensing applications. The sensor accepts a 10-32 VDC power supply range and offers a direct analog displacement output of 0-5 VDC. The MH has specifically been designed and tested to the stringent shock, vibration and electromagnetic immunity specifications of the on- and off-highway machine industries.
