Macdermid Autotype Autotex XE Film Offers Increased Range for UV and Compatibility

ROLLING MEADOWS, Illinois, August 6, 2007 - High levels of UV light in exterior applications for membrane switches rapidly affect the performance of conventional overlays leading to discoloration and deterioration of the surface layer. MacDermid Autotype's Autotex XE film offers increased UV resistance and has been developed specifically to resist yellowing and premature aging for these outdoor products. The film can withstand high humidity and temperatures and has a built in UV inhibitor
to offer maximum protection in extreme environmental conditions.

Autotex XE is an advanced polyester film, which is tougher and more durable than polycarbonate and PVC films, consisting of a base polyester and a flexible chemically bonded, UV cured, textured coating and is chemical, abrasion and scratch resistant with a long flex life.

Autotex XE may be used as a substrate in the membrane switch overlay, facia panel, signage, nameplate, and label/product marking markets. Bjorn Kienzle at Kienzle Systems in Germany, which has recently been working on new developments for portable PC systems, stated, "The uniform, textured surface, extraordinary anti-scratch properties and high UV resistance that prevents premature yellowing and embrittlement, make Autoflex XE the ideal material for these demanding outdoor
applications."

Autotex XE is available in Fine and Velvet textures on the first surface, with an ink receptive second surface. The second surface provides excellent adhesion properties for screen printing inks.
