Original Press Release:

24V DC-Powered LVDT Position Sensors Designed for Easy Integration with PLCs, Digital Indicators, QC Systems

Pennsauken, NJ, October 2, 2006... Macro Sensors, (www.macrosensors.com), a sensor company specializing in the manufacture of LVDT-based linear sensors and gaging probes, has designed a line of 24V DC- operated LVDT position sensors that provide a true zero to 10V output for easy field integration with PLCs, digital indicators, A/D converters, computer-based DAQ systems, and QC data collection systems. The true zero voltage output is a valuable feature that permits a user to know exactly when the LVDT's core is positioned at the beginning of the LVDT's linear range of operation. The 24 Volts DC operating power is available from virtually any PLC and from most DAQ systems.

Utilizing built-in electronics, the SE 750 Series of General Purpose DC-LVDTs provide the desirable features of AC-operated LVDTs, such as frictionless operation and dynamic response, but with the convenience of DC input and precalibrated output. Units provide highly reliable, contactless operation with the high resolution, excellent repeatability, and low hysteresis. Their exceptional reliability is a result of manufacturing processes and assembly techniques developed and optimized by Macro Sensors over many years of manufacturing LVDT sensors.

The excellent performance specifications and easy field integration of these industry-standard 3/4 inch (19 mm) diameter LVDTs make them ideal for a range of position measurement applications including valve position sensing, hydraulic cylinder positioning and as machine tool positioners and automatic assembly equipment.

The SE 750 Series is available in nine standard full scale ranges from 0.100 inch (2.5 mm) to 20.00 inches (500 mm). Maximum linearity error for sensors is less than or equal to ±0.25% of FSO, with ±0.10% of FSO available as an option. Operating temperature range is 0ºF to 160ºF (-20ºC to 70ºC). Units operate from 24V DC nominal, 15- 24V DC +10%, @ 30 mA nominal input and provide a full-scale output of 0 to 10V DC over the specified linear sensing range.

A single-ended LVDT, the SE Series 750 LVDTs feature a through-bore design that makes the sensor's core accessible from both ends for better mechanical support and core guidance, as well as facilitating bore cleaning if needed in an application. Stainless steel housings act as supplemental magnetic shields to reduce the effects of external AC magnetic fields. SE 750 LVDTs are optionally available with Teflon® bore liners and metric threaded cores.

Available from stock, pricing of the SE 750 Series of General Purpose DC-LVDTs begins at $248. For more information on these sensors, visit the Macro Sensor web site at macrosensors.com/ms-lvdts_prod-lvdt-freecore-dc.html or contact us at sales@macrosensors.com.
