Luminary Micro and Rowley Associates Announce Worldwide Availability of CrossFire LM3S102 Evaluation Kit for Stellaris(TM) 32-bit Microcontrollers Based on ARM® Cortex(TM)-M3

Fulfillment of $149 Rowley Kit Available Through Luminary Micro's Global Sales Channel including Mouser Electronics

AUSTIN, Texas, July 5 / -- Luminary Micro (http://www.luminarymicro.com/), a fabless semiconductor company that designs, markets, and sells ARM(R) Cortex(TM)-M3 processor-based microcontrollers and was the first to bring ARM for $1.00 to embedded developers, and UK-based Rowley Associates (http://www.rowley.co.uk/) announce today that the CrossFire LM3S102 Evaluation Kit for the Stellaris LM3S102 Cortex-M3 microcontroller is now available directly through Luminary Micro's global sales channel. Luminary Micro introduced the Stellaris LM3S102 and its flagship "ARM for $1.00" LM3S101 in March 2006 as the world's first silicon implementation of the Cortex-M3 processor. The Rowley Crossfire LM3S102 is the first evaluation kit developed and made available for a Cortex-M3 MCU. Global fulfillment of the kit is also available through Mouser at www.mouser.com/luminarymicro .

The CrossFire LM3S102 Evaluation Kit contains all necessary components to evaluate the Stellaris LM3S102 microcontroller. It is bundled with the Stellaris LM3S102, the CrossFire LM3S102 evaluation board, a mini-USB cable, a Getting Started manual, and a license for Rowley's CrossWorks for ARM software development tools (locked to the board). Detailed information about the kit can be found at http://www.rowley.co.uk/crossfire/crossfire_lm3s102.htm.

"Rowley has been an important and valuable partner for us since we began developing the Stellaris family two years ago," said Luminary Micro's Chief Marketing Officer Jean Anne Booth. "The features of the CrossFire LM3S102 Evaluation Kit make it simple and easy to evaluate our Stellaris microcontrollers. With the first ARM Cortex-M3 microcontrollers on the market, and with the first ARM-based microcontrollers that provide 32-bit performance for the same price as an 8- or 16-bit, we have had several requests for this type of evaluation board and we think it is going to be very popular among Stellaris enthusiasts."

"We're proud to offer the world's first evaluation kit for an ARM Cortex-M3-based microcontroller, and even more pleased to be associated with Luminary Micro and the Stellaris product line," said Paul Curtis, Director of Rowley Associates. "We think that current users of 32-bit MCUs will be impressed with the Thumb-2 instruction set of the Cortex-M3, balancing critical code density and performance; while 8- and 16-bit users can painlessly migrate to 32-bit with no price penalty. This kit is ideal for both serious and fun applications, particularly with its attractive price point."

Features of the CrossFire LM3S102 Evaluation Kit
* Luminary Micro LM3S102 Stellaris Microcontroller
* Integrated high-speed USB CrossConnect -- no external JTAG adapter
required!
* Tri-color (red, green, blue) LED for interesting visual effects
* User button connected to GPIO input pin
* Serial analog to digital converter with potentiometer
* Signals brought out to headers for convenient prototyping
* Powered directly from USB -- no external power supply required
* Fully supported by ARM versions of CrossStudio and CrossLoad
* Complete with non-time-limited CrossWorks for ARM license (locked to the
board)

Luminary Micro Stellaris Family Development Kits also available

In addition to the Rowley CrossFire LM3S102 evaluation kit, Luminary Micro also offers fully featured Stellaris family development kits through Mouser for $249. Luminary Micro's Stellaris development kits take designers from development kit to prototype in just one box. The kit's motherboard supports the entire Stellaris line and comes complete with ready-to-go software and tools designed to get users running in 10 minutes or less. Purchasers will receive Luminary Micro's development kit motherboard and a daughterboard for the selected Stellaris MCUs; a peripheral driver library; documentation, schematics, and example programs; and all cables and jumpers. Users of more than one Stellaris family member simply change out the daughterboard. All boards in the Stellaris development kit have passed certification and are CE marked, indicating the development kit's conformance to the mandatory European regulatory requirements.

Orders for the CrossFire LM3S102 evaluation kit or for Stellaris family development kits may be placed at www.luminarymicro.com/ or through Mouser at www.mouser.com/luminarymicro . Both kits are currently shipping.
