High-Output Ex-Rated Luminaire Described in New Bulletin
A detailed product bulletin from L.J. Star Inc. describes a line of glare-free super-compact luminaires for use in explosion hazardous areas. The units, designated ESL25-EX, are designed to provide illumination of the internals of visual flow indicators, pipelines, lab mixers and bio-reactors, as well as storage tanks, reactors and other normally sealed process vessels. They are especially well suited to use in food and pharmaceutical industry applications.
The luminaires are rated for zones 1 and 2, to IEC 79-10. Dust and waterjet tight specs include IP65 to EN 60529/DIN VDE 0470
part 1. NEMA types are 4 and 4X and operating temp is 140°F (60°C).
Though the unit measures only 5-1/2 inches (141 mm) in length and 2-4/5 inches (71 mm) in diameter, its light output ranges from 5 watts up to 20 watts. The useful light output is exceptional for such a small unit due to the use of halogen filament lamps and the large lens opening.
