Lumidigm Partners with i-Evo to Create Robust Biometric Fingerprint Access Control Readers

Reads Through Snow, Cold, Water, Dust, Oil, Creams and Gloves

ALBUQUERQUE, NM - Lumidigm today announced that i-Evo (Newcastle upon Tyne, UK) is using the company's multispectral imaging sensors to produce a line of extremely versatile fingerprint readers that can be used both indoors and outdoors, including in harsh environments that render most biometric readers inoperable. The i-Evo team has kept the design of the biometric fingerprint readers simple, resulting in units that are small, require minimal training, are easy to install and cost less. They are aesthetically pleasing, easy to use, vandal-resistant and available in a range of colors. Also "plug-and-play" installable, i-Evo readers integrate easily with existing card and fob systems.

"Biometrics has been proven time and time again to overcome all of the security issues found with card and fob systems," explains Shaun Oakes, managing director of i-Evo. "However, the cost of biometric systems coupled with their reliability issues has, until now, curtailed profits and industry growth. Lumidigm's multispectral imaging sensors eradicate these issues and provide us with a quick, simple and cost-effective solution for our integrators to promote to their users."

"Probably nothing better exemplifies how our multispectral imaging fingerprint sensors complement i-Evo's solutions and help i-Evo customers get reliable reads than a video that i-Evo has on their website," emphasizes Bill Spence, Lumidigm vice president of transaction systems. "The video demonstrates how their readers continue to operate submerged in snow or under water, work in -20 C degree temperatures, read through layers of cream, oil and dust, match fingerprints wearing latex gloves and work while fingers are wet."

The video is available at http://ievoreader.com/media.php.

Lumidigm multispectral fingerprint sensors capture fingerprint data beneath the surface of the skin so that dryness or even damaged or worn fingers create no problems for reliable reads. Using multiple wavelengths of light and advanced polarization techniques to extract unique fingerprint characteristics from both the surface and subsurface of the skin, Lumidigm's sensors provide results that are more consistent, more inclusive and more tamper resistant than conventional biometric readers.

i-Evo biometric readers are employed by a variety of customers, including schools, corporate buildings, universities, hospitals, apartments, perimeter control, construction sites, office blocks and others throughout Europe and beyond.

About i-Evo

Leveraging over a decade of biometric experience, i-Evo develops biometric solutions for the access control market. Their background has driven them to consider all aspects of biometric installation in the design of their products, from the specification process and installation all the way through to the end user experience. The newest offering delivers a minimalist, reliable and fit-for-purpose solution that allows seamless integration and works alongside currently installed systems using card/fob/PINs, as opposed to looking to replace whole systems. i-Evo ensures that the best sensor is used and all other components are of the highest quality possible, including the world's leading algorithm. Coupled with its low cost, the i-Evo solution takes biometrics into new markets that have previously withdrawn from or have not been suitable for biometrics due to the low quality of traditional products. Located in the United Kingdom, i-Evo readers are currently available direct to trade customers in the UK and globally.
