Tandberg Data Debuts Industry's Lowest Priced LTO-Based Tape Autoloader; Best of Class Entry Delivers Fastest Transfer Rate Versus Competing Formats

POWAY, Calif.--June 19, 2006--Tandberg Data Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Tandberg Data ASA (OSE:TAD), has introduced the world's lowest priced LTO-based tape autoloader at under $3,000 list price. The StorageLoader(TM) utilizes LTO-1 half-height drives to deliver the highest transfer rate relative to other technologies such as DLT, AIT and VXA-based models.

The compact 1U rack optimized LTO StorageLoader delivers up to 1.6TB compressed (800GB native) storage capacity and a transfer rate of up to 32MB per second by incorporating Tandberg Data's recently introduced half-height LTO-1 tape drive.

The Tandberg StorageLoader LTO-1 stands apart from existing rackmount autoloaders for ease of cartridge handling, as it is the only autoloader available with eight data cartridges stored in two removable magazines holding four cartridges each to ensure safe and easy loading of tape media and transport for off-site storage.

"The Tandberg StorageLoader LTO-1 is further example of our ongoing commitment to our channel partners to provide innovative automation solutions designed specifically for the small/medium enterprise or departments that require LTO automation technology at entry-level pricing," said Ken Cruden, vice president and general manager at Tandberg Data. "By offering an affordable LTO-1 option, we are protecting our customers' investment with defined future upgrade paths to LTO-2 and LTO-3 models while providing the same integrated automated backup and manageability features across the entire product line."

Its highly modular design is focused on customer convenience. A customer replaceable air filter ensures a clean environment for operation and the tape drive, power supply and fans are all field replaceable without removing the autoloader from the rack thereby reducing total cost of ownership and minimizing downtime. In fact, the innovative architecture of the tape autoloader permits future models to accommodate the next generation of LTO half-height products.

The ease-of-use cartridge handling and customer convenient modular design is further complemented with simple to use management features. Unique design features of the Tandberg StorageLoader LTO-1 include Web-based remote management and multilingual support as standard. Maintenance, system monitoring and system commands can be performed remotely through a standard Web browser, allowing administrators to conveniently monitor, control, configure and diagnose the StorageLoader from anywhere in the world. The same functions can also be performed locally through the easy-to-use prompt panel on the unit. For high-performance inventory management it also comes with a barcode reader as standard, which does not use space allocated to cartridge slots.

The Tandberg StorageLoader LTO-1 is a complete turnkey solution including rackmount kit, SCSI cable, terminator and Ethernet cable, plus a full three-year warranty. MSRP is $2,999 and is available immediately throughout Tandberg Data's North and Latin American distribution network.
