Q-TRAN Introduces Q6 Series Power Supply Center of Transformers

Revolutionizes Industry with First Transformers Designed and Engineered for Six Mounting Positions

BRIDGEPORT, CONN. ---Q-TRAN has revolutionized the lighting industry with the introduction of the versatile Q6 Series, a Power Supply Center of high-quality, performance-based Toroidal Transformers. Q6 is the first and only group of transformers specifically designed, engineered and UL Listed for mounting in any of six available positions. Q-TRAN, a leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality, power supply systems, transformers and components for low voltage lighting systems, has developed Q6 to greatly reduce noise while producing superior light output and lamp performance.

While other transformers in the industry are only UL listed for mounting in the vertical position, the flexible and innovative Q6 Multi-Volt Toroidal Transformers are UL Listed for surface mounts in any position, including ceiling, floor, and six different wall surface mount positions (in any direction), and wherever is needed to power a low voltage system. In addition, the series offers three different mounting options, including a rod suspension (above hung ceilings in commercial applications), a junction box mounting plate (for easy installation/wiring above a J-Box), and a decorative shroud (for a clean look and frontal ventilated design).

The Q6 features a unique dual-tap design to compensate for voltage drop from dimmer loss, a standard choke for noise reduction (reaching industry's lowest levels on acoustic tests) and in-rush current, and a variety of circuit breakers for secondary circuit protection. Working with 12 or 24 volt low voltage lighting, the Q6 increases light output by 50 percent for brighter, more efficient lighting. The system also compensates for load size and resistance without increasing wire size. Three models of Q6 Transformers are offered-the Q6S, Q6M and Q6L.

The Q6S Transformer style, crafted of 18-Gauge welded steel, is 8.63 inches long, 5.75 inches wide, and 3.1 inches tall, with designed with four knockouts. It is offered in a White powder coated finish, but can be custom-finished to meet exact specifications. The Q6S operates at a maximum lamp load range of 50 to 300 watts, with a 12- or 24-volt output, a 120-volt input, and a PSC Efficiency of 94 percent. This model is protected by a single magnetic circuit breaker.

The Q6M style of transformer is crafted of 18-Gauge welded steel, and measures 11 inches in length, seven inches in width, and 4.5 inches in height, and designed with six knockouts. It is available in a standard White power coated finish, but custom finishes are offered as well. The Q6M functions on a maximum lamp load of 500 to 750 watts, with a 12- or 24-volt output, a 120-volt input, and a PSC Efficiency of 95 percent. This model is protected by up to five magnetic circuit breakers.

The Q6L model is constructed of 16-Gauge welded steel and measures 15 inches in length, 10 inches in width, and 5.25 inches in height, with 11 knockouts. Its standard finish is White powder coat, but custom finishes are available. This Q6L works with a maximum lamp load of 900-1800 watts, dual primary taps, and offers a 12- or 24-output, a 120-volt input, and a PSC Efficiency of 96 percent. Up to nine magnetic circuit breakers are used for secondary circuit protection on the Q6L.

The complete Q6 Series Power Supply Center of Transformers are designed, engineered and manufactured In The USA and feature a Five-Year Guarantee. All are UL listed for damp locations, as well as interior applications.

About Q-Tran, Inc.

In 1993, Q-Tran, Inc. was founded by John Tremaine, an accomplished lighting designer born into a family of lighting entrepreneurs and innovators. He began his career with The Miller Company, a firm acquired in the 1930's by his great grandfather, who founded the National Electric Lamp Association (NELA Park), which became headquarters for General Electric's lamp operations. Ownership of The Miller Co. was passed-on through generations of the Tremaine family, until being sold to Hubbell Lighting in the 1980s.

While operating a high-tech lighting showroom, John Tremaine founded Q-Tran as a source for developing remote transformers that eliminated noise and heat, while significantly improving performance to enhance the quality of light. Operating with the mantra "EnlightenedThinking®," his firm pioneered innovative transformers with improved safety, reliability, performance and convenience, and developed the first power supply center designed specifically for low voltage lighting.

Over the years, Gean Tremaine, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Jordan Nodelman, Vice President of Operations, would take their place by their father's side, helping to build Q-Tran as a leading designer and manufacturer of high-quality, power supply systems, transformers and components.
