Low-Shrink Adhesives provide doublet and lens bonding.
Press Release Summary:
High-clarity, UV/visible light-curing adhesives offer viscosities from 300 to 25,000 cP and elongation from 120 to 175%. Fiber-optic adhesives include OP-52 medium-viscosity grade and OP-54 low-viscosity, wicking grade for butt bonding, bundling, and splitting. OP-18 may be peeled off like tape, and OP-19 and OP-19G are water soluble grades. Adhesives cure in seconds and offer moisture resistance, low outgassing, and resistance to thermal excursions.

Dymax Introduces A New Line Of Low Shrink, High Clarity Adhesives For Precision Lens Assembly
DYMAX offers a new line of high clarity, low shrinkage UV/visible light curing adhesives specifically designed for doublet and lens bonding.
The doublet bonders include adhesives that cure with both UV and visible light. A line of five formulations for doublet bonding has excellent adhesion to a variety plastic, glass and metal
substrates, a wide range of viscosities from 300 to 25,000 cP and elongation from 120 to 175%. Bond line clarity and optical transmission are exceptional. The combination of high adhesion,
low shrinkage and good elongation virtually eliminates birefringence from occurring in lens assemblies.
Four separate formulations are offered specifically for laminating and bonding eyeglass and sunglass lenses. DYMAX adhesives can be used in a wide variety of applications from potting in metal mounts, bonding glass to glass, glass to plastic lenses and laminating UV blocking plastic sunglasses.
An additional six formulations have been developed for lens, prism and optic mounting applications. They exhibit very low shrinkage and low to no movement upon thermal cycling. Two of these adhesives are part of the DYMAX fiber optic adhesive line; OP-52, a medium viscosity grade adhesive and OP-54, a low viscosity, wicking grade adhesive for butt bonding, bundling and splitting. Three adhesive formulations form easily removable bonds and can be used as temporary manufacturing aids. These include OP-18, an adhesive which may later be peeled off like tape and OP-19 and OP-19G which are water soluble grades.
Formulated to "cure on demand" in seconds upon exposure to either UV or visible blue light, DYMAX optical and fiber optic adhesives exhibit excellent depth and speed of cure. "Cure on
demand" means the adhesive does not fixture until exposed to UV or visible light, permitting adjustment of parts after the adhesive is dispensed to obtain precise parts alignment. In
addition, DYMAX adhesives offer superior moisture resistance, very low outgassing and excellent resistance to thermal excursions, allowing their use in many critical and demanding
applications.
DYMAX has a complete line of UV/visible light curing systems that are compatible to the curing chemistry of UV adhesives. High intensity spot lamps provide fast cures for small drops of
adhesive, while stationary flood lamps and lamps mounted over conveyors provide cures of DYMAX precision assembly resins in large area applications.
DYMAX Corporation specializes in the formulation, manufacture and service of advanced assembly adhesives, coatings, sealants and UV/visible light curing systems.
