Low-Light Video Processor SoC serves megapixel IP camera market.

Press Release Summary:

Offering 5 MP or higher resolution video, DaVinci™ DM369 enables IP cameras to produce clear images in low-light environments such as parking garages or dark alleys. Camera can compress and transmit noise-filtered and dynamic-range enhanced videos in real-time in H.264/SVC(T) format. Along with simultaneous multi-profile encoding, SoC offers ISP technology for true-to-life image quality along with face detection, video stabilization, fish-eye correction, and other features.

Original Press Release:

TI Delivers Best-in-Class Low-Light Technology for Megapixel IP Camera Market with New DaVinci(TM) DM369 Video SoC

LAS VEGAS -- ISC West -- Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) (NASDAQ: TXN) is introducing its newest DaVinci(TM) video processor, the DM369, which features best-in-class low-light technology for the megapixel IP camera market. The DM369 video system-on-chip (SoC) enables video security manufacturers to leverage superior low-light technology to produce crisp, clear image quality. Because the DM369 video SoC is also pin-to-pin compatible with the DM36x family of video processors, current TI customers can now easily extend their existing IP camera product lines to take advantage of this exceptional technology, a key differentiator in the market. TI's scalable DaVinci video platforms offer innovative solutions that let customers quickly, easily and cost effectively design highly differentiated IP cameras.

Meeting the needs of video security developers

TI's DaVinci DM369 video SoC provides customers with superior low-light performance at 2X the nearest competitor. A DM369-based IP camera has the capability to produce clear images in extremely low-light environments such as parking garages or dark alleys, enabling the user to capture a license plate, a person's face and other features that may help authorities solve a crime. The camera can compress and transmit these noise filtered and dynamic range-enhanced videos in real time in a H.264/SVC(T) format.( )

Key differentiating features of TI's solution include:

--  Five megapixel or higher resolution video with high-efficiency H.264 compression to save network bandwidth and storage space

--  Simultaneous multi-profile (base/main/high) encoding to provide the best video quality and compatibility

--  Best-in-class integrated image signal processing (ISP) technology to enable "true-to-life" image quality along with face detection, video stabilization, fish-eye correction among other features Easing development with tools and software

TI's scalable DM369 video SoC provides surveillance manufacturers with an ecosystem of tools and software, accelerating time to market. The DM369 IP camera reference design includes schematics, layout and BOM to help customers re-use their investment in TI's DaVinci video processors. ONVIF-compliant, the DM369 IP camera reference design also makes it easy for customers to integrate their cameras with NVR and VMS systems. Customers can also choose from TI's ecosystem of sensor modules based on the market's most popular sensors when designing their solution and taking it to market.

"TI's DaVinci video processors continue to be the go-to solution for surveillance product manufacturers," said Jacob Jose, IP camera product marketing manager, TI. "With our third-generation 3D noise filtering and WDR processing technology, TI is committed to making the world safer through our best-in-class low-light performance, which is vital for security applications."

Pricing and availability

TI's DaVinci DM369 IP camera reference design is currently available for $995. Samples of TI's DaVinci DM369 video SoC will be available at the end of April. Additionally, pricing for the DM369 video SoC can be found by contacting your local TI or distributor sales representative.
