Dow Introduces TRITON EF Low Foam Surfactants

New Product Line Combines Environmental Viability with High Performance

MIDLAND, Mich. - (February 5, 2003) - The Functional Solutions & Surfactants business of The Dow Chemical Company has introduced TRITON(tm) EF low foam surfactants, expanding its product suite for the cleaning market segment. The TRITON EF line provides key performance benefits and a favorable environmental profile, making it well-suited for development of global formulations. Offering low foam performance at low temperatures and good detergency and wetting, the nonionic surfactants are used in a wide variety of applications including metal cleaners and other hard surface cleaners, spray cleaners, rinse aids, auto-dish detergents, and textile processing auxiliaries.

"The TRITON EF low foam surfactants are the result of Dow's focus on technological innovation and product development," said Julie Fasone Holder, business director for Functional Solutions & Surfactants. "We had two objectives in the development of TRITON EF surfactants: to achieve key performance requirements for the cleaning market segment while meeting global environmental standards."

The TRITON EF low foam surfactant line offers unique benefits for cleaning applications. TRITON EF-14 provides fast wetting action, which is comparable to conventional ethoxylate surfactants. It produces low unstable foam and is an exceptional detergent for oily soils.

TRITON EF-19 low foam surfactant advances Dow low foam surfactant technology by offering no observable foam. It is also an excellent detergent, a good wetting agent, and is particularly effective for low temperature applications.

TRITON EF-24 low foam surfactant is characterized by its excellent hard surface wetting performance. It offers low foam with rapid collapse and excellent detergency, as well as good streaking and filming performance.

All TRITON EF surfactants are compatible with anionic, cationic and other nonionic surfactants.
