Sipex Announces Two New, Low Noise, Low Voltage CMOS LDOs
(Milpitas, CA - September 17, 2003) - Sipex Corporation (NASDAQ:SIPX), today introduced the SP6205 and the SP6203, two low noise 500mA and 300mA low dropout linear regulators (LDOs) that offer low output noise, low dropout, and ultra low supply current. These LDOs are an ideal choice for portable applications such as cell phones, PDAs, digital cameras.
The SP6205 provides up to 500mA with only 300mV dropout, while the SP6203 provides 300mA with only 180mV of dropout. Supply current is 45uA which reduces to 10nA in shutdown, extending battery life in portable applications. Both devices only generate 12µVRMS of output noise with tiny 10nF bypass capacitors, which is important in noise sensitive applications.
Packaged in the tiny SOT-23, these devices operate from a 2.7V to 6V input supply and have capacitors as low as 10nF, further reducing board space. They are available in fixed output voltages of 2.5V, 2.7V, 2.8V, 2.85V, 3.0V, 3.3V, as well as adjustable which allows customers to choose their specific voltage option. Other features include current limit and thermal shutdown protection.
