The Innovative SP6260 LDO Eliminates Reference Bypass Capacitor in Low Noise Applications

MILPITAS, Calif., July 9 -- Sipex Corporation (NASDAQ:SIPX) today announced the SP6260, an LDO designed to power RF systems. The device uses a simple innovative circuit eliminating the need for the reference bypass capacitor normally required for low output noise performance in applications such as mobile phones and portable instrumentation.

The SP6260 produces a minimal output noise of 30 uVm (10-100 kHz), and without the need of the reference bypass capacitor, minimizes the board space required for the LDO. With a dropout voltage of 150 mV @ 100 mA, a shutdown current of 0.1 uA, and a quiescent current of only 25 uA, the SP6260 maximizes battery life.

Additionally, the device features an excellent 70 dB power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) which provides isolation from noise generated from within the application and is available in fixed output voltages from 1.5-3.3 V.

Pricing and availability

Offered in a small SOT23-5 package and specified over a -40 to +125°C junction temperature range, the SP6260 is lead-free and RoHS compliant. It is priced at $0.25 each in quantities of 1,000 units.
