Provia Software Offers HazMat Tracking & Reporting Functionality Solution

Third Party Logistics Providers Look to FourSite Version 4.5 to Integrate HazMat Reporting with Industry Leading Logistics Application

Grand Rapids, Michigan - Provia Software, a leading provider of supply chain execution software solutions, announced today that hazardous material (HazMat) reporting functionality has been added to the company's FourSite® third party logistics (3PL) product solution. The HazMat functionality, which has never before been included with a standard supply chain execution application, will be an optional module in FourSite version 4.5.

HazMat tracking and reporting has typically been a function that required an additional application to work in conjunction with the 3PL's logistics solution. The addition of the HazMat module to Provia's FourSite 3PL warehousing product provides 3PLs with a seamlessly integrated all-inclusive option for tracking inventory and for material safety data sheet (MSDS) management, saving 3PLs time and money.

"The HazMat option in FourSite brings many benefits to the 3PL looking for a complete, integrated package solution from a single vendor," said John Pulling, Provia's chief operating officer. "As one of the leading providers of supply chain software to the 3PL industry, it is important that we continue to anticipate and create enhancements to our software that will streamline our customers' businesses."

The SARA Title III Act, enacted in 1986, requires an annual report be submitted to state and local authorities recording the types, quantities, and locations of any hazardous material that may be used or stored within a facility. With the HazMat module of FourSite, a listing of HazMat inventory can easily be generated at anytime to generate the required SARA Title III reporting. This allows 3PLs to comply with the regulations effectively and thoroughly, with less effort than the reporting had previously taken.

In addition to reporting functions, a bill of lading (BOL) created specifically for HazMat shipping is part of the HazMat module and addresses the special care that must be taken in shipping hazardous materials. This BOL accurately depicts the contents of the shipping package; disclosing the contents of any substance or item that may be considered hazardous.

"Provia's addition of Hazmat reporting capabilities as part of its 3PL logistics solution is a real plus," said Dick Armstrong, president of Armstrong & Associates, a supply chain management consulting firm. "Previously, 3PLs had to utilize multiple logistics applications in order to comply with the HazMat reporting requirements. Being able to use a single solution for supply chain execution that includes all the necessary hazardous material reporting and bills of lading paperwork should lower the cost of compliance for Provia's 3PL client base."

FourSite version 4.5 will be available in late summer 2004.
