Original Press Release:

New CDMA Modem

MIDDLETOWN, Pa. – With the introduction of a new CDMA modem, Phoenix Contact’s Nanoline controller can now provide easy control capability via text message on the Verizon network in the U.S.

The modem sends text messages via the short message service (SMS) protocol to and from remote locations that require simple control capabilities. This makes Nanoline an ideal control solution for remote pumping stations, remote tank monitoring sites, or any location that requires local control and has Verizon network coverage. The addition of the CDMA modem enables the Nanoline to act as a remote-terminal unit (RTU) with the added ability to solve logic.

The CDMA modem’s phone book can store up to 16 phone numbers that can be configured to send program messages and/or fault or warning messages. A “last breath” feature allows for sending an emergency message in case of total power loss.

Phoenix Contact’s Nanoline is a small, flexible logic controller for simple applications. It uses the free-to-download Nanonavigator software for easy programming and hardware configuration. Nanoline can be programmed in relay ladder logic (RLL) or flow-chart language.
