Logic Announces Availability of Its DLP® LightCommander(TM)

Development kit simplifies DLP technology integration and dramatically accelerates system development requiring high-speed spatial light modulation

San Jose, Calif. - Logic today announced the general availability of the DLP® LightCommander(TM), a development kit that enables users to easily integrate Texas Instruments' DLP technology into light processing applications and accelerate optical, electronic and system software development. Logic designs, manufactures and supports the DLP LightCommander and is showcasing this latest development platform in booth #1438 at the Embedded Systems Conference this week in San Jose.

Offering users a highly versatile and easy to use development tool, the DLP LightCommander is a complete system comprised of modular assemblies that enables customers to prototype potential applications for DLP technology in a matter of hours instead of days. The modular architecture of the DLP LightCommander includes an optical light engine, industry standard interfaces and application software to expedite system development requiring high-speed spatial light modulation.

The DLP LightCommander contains a high performance light engine comprised of a core optical module and an LED illumination module. At the heart of DLP technology is the Digital Micromirror Device (DMD). Powering the DLP LightCommander is the 0.55 XGA Chipset available from Texas Instruments. The DLP LightCommander includes software to control the DMD timing for programmable, variable speed spatial light modulation. The user-defined control includes binary patterns, 8-bit gray scale and video projection mode.

"In order to meet our customers' evolving needs, we're continually seeking to make it even easier to leverage our technology," said Arun Chhabra, worldwide business development, DLP Embedded, Texas Instruments. "As a long-time partner, Logic has once again proven its ability to design and manufacture an intricate, custom solution that meets developers' discerning needs while enabling them to quickly and easily accelerate their innovations to market."
