Agilent Technologies' New Logic Analysis Probe Accelerates Designs of Intel Pentium 4 Processor-Based Products
Unprecedented Visibility into New LGA775-Land Package Pentium 4 Designs Improves Robustness and Reliability, Reduces Time to Market
PALO ALTO, Calif., Aug. 30, 2004 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today introduced a logic analysis probe that accelerates the design of products based on the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor in the 775-land package. The Agilent E8045B logic analysis probe provides engineers with unprecedented visibility into the Pentium 4 system bus, improving design robustness and reliability. This probe and the Agilent 16900A logic analysis system will be featured at Agilent booth 639 at the Intel Developer Forum, Sept. 7-9 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.

The Agilent E8045B analysis probe (logic analyzer interface) enables the connection of the logic analyzers to the LGA775 processor with extremely low mechanical and electrical intrusion. Agilent's 775-land package probe adapter fits between the processor and its socket. Bus loading and mechanical intrusions are minimized because the probe interface adapter is electrically passive, a necessary condition for designers and engineers to validate the bus.
The probe decreases the time spent on troubleshooting by simplifying the validation process, which allows for quicker design validation and speeds time to market. The probe simplifies validation of the Pentium 4 system bus by aligning the source-synchronous, quad-pumped data lines and double-pumped address lines with the b-clk frequency control signals. The validation engineer does not need to consider multiple clock domains because of this simplification.
For complete system validation, the Agilent E8045B can be time-correlated to other solutions from Agilent, including analysis probes for DDR 1 and 2, fully buffered DIMM (FBD), Infiniband, PCI, PCI Express (including advanced switching), PCI-X 1.0 and 2.0, SATA 1 and 2, and USB 1.0, 1.1 and 2.0.
In addition to supporting the LGA775 processor package from Intel, Agilent also provides support for Pentium 4 in the 478-pin package, Pentium M in the 478-pin package, Xeon in the 603 and 604-pin packages, and the Itanium Processor in the 611-pin package.
