Eaton Introduces Type BR Loadcenter to Minimize the Space, Effort and Expense of Circuit Panel Installation

PITTSBURGH … Power management company Eaton today released a new 60-space, 120-circuit Type BR loadcenter affording residential and commercial construction markets the highest number of circuits available in a single breaker box installation. The new Type BR loadcenter eliminates the need for additional fuse box equipment or labor, such as a sub-panel, by providing an installer up to 120 circuits in the standard width of a loadcenter.

“Eaton’s new Type BR loadcenter is a leader, supporting up to 120 circuits in a single loadcenter device,” said Andy Zahn, product manager, Loadcenters, Eaton’s Residential Wiring and Devices Division. “This solution was specifically designed to save home-builders and light commercial contractors significant space, time, and money without loss to capability, safety or performance.”

Ideally suited for single-family and custom homes or single-phase light commercial settings such as small office buildings, strip malls or retail shops, the Type BR loadcenter accommodates electrical applications requiring more than the traditional 40 spaces. Indoor or outdoor box enclosures are available for sale in the U.S. with a 10-year warranty included.

The Type BR loadcenter enclosures measure a standard 14-3/8 inches (365.1 millimeters) wide to fit snugly between wall studs. The box’s one-piece roll-formed metal backpan features circuit breaker alignment notches to ensure accurately aligned breaker and bus tabs. With E-Z mount top and bottom keyhole mounts on each side, the large trim covers are simple to hang.

The 1-inch BR loadcenters house the branch circuit breakers and the wiring required to distribute power to individual circuits. The new BR loadcenter features backed-out neutral screws that make it possible to terminate neutral and ground wires quickly and securely to enhance the installation of wires going in and out of split neutral bars. The branch breakers also enhance safety by protecting the wires leading to individual electrical loads such as fixtures and outlets.

A convertible neutral lug (NL) loadcenter, the BR fuse box is ready for conversion to a main breaker install at any time – allowing contractors the maximum flexibility for future additions or load support.  With 25 thousand amps interrupting capacity (kAIC), the BR loadcenter serves as a commercial grade main breaker for superior interrupting ratings and performance or as a main lug for adding circuits to existing service. As a main breaker, the box protects the entire main panel and can be used as a service disconnect.
