KROHNE Introduces New Factory Mutual (FM) approved LS 5000 Series Level Switches
Rugged level measuring system unaffected by product properties and variations
KROHNE, Inc., a global technology leader in the development, manufacture and distribution of accurate, reliable and cost effective level and flow measurement products for the process industries, introduces its new FM-approved LS 5000 Series level switches for liquid applications. The LS5000 series is ideal for food, pharmaceutical, chemical and industrial applications.
With an extremely rugged tuning fork measuring system, the LS 5000 Series is unaffected by product variations in density, conductivity, dielectric constant or viscosity and is insensitive to foam, air bubbles, turbulence, pressure and temperature variations, strong external vibrations or varying products. Other features of the LS 5000 include simple set-up without adjustment and integrated fault monitoring. Certain models have surfaces especially polished for applications in hygienic industries.
Typical applications of the LS 5000 series are overfill and dry run protection. With a tuning fork length of only 1 ½ inches (40 mm), the LS 5000 series is suitable for applications in confined spaces, opening up new areas of application, such as pipelines from diameters 1 inch and up. The LS 5000 is available both in short and extended versions. The modular switches may be used in vessels, tanks and pipelines. The tuning fork's piezoelectric elements are fastened mechanically and are insensitive to temperature shock.
The LS 5000 Series is FM approved: explosionproof for use in Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C and D and Class I, Zone 1, Group IIC; intrinsically safe, for use in Class I, II and III, Division 1, Groups A, B, C, D, E, F and G and Class I, Zone 0 AEx ia IIC; dust-ignitionproof for Class II/III, Division 1, Groups E, F and G; nonincendive for Class I, Division 2, Groups A, B, C and D and Class I, Zone 2, Group IIC; suitable for Class II, Division 2, Groups F and G; and suitable for Class III, Division 1, hazardous (classified) indoor/outdoor (type 4X/6; IP66) locations.
