MTS Sensors Provides Wireless Level Gauging Capabilities for Tank Farms
CARY, N.C. (June 9, 2003) - MTS Systems Corp., Sensors Division, announced the availability of RF wireless data transmission capabilities for its M-Series digital and analog liquid level gauges. M-series sensors are ideal for cost-effective level, temperature and volume measurement in long gauge tank farm applications. The RF transmitter may be quickly mounted on each tank to provide output readings at a remote central display point via PC or PLC.
"Customers are looking for wireless capabilities," said Level Plus Product Manager, Adrian Totten. "This system is compatible with major software programs to provide real-time data transmission through existing LAN systems providing plant-wide display functions. The plug and play installation will save money and streamline all Class I/Div. 1 or Div 2 operations."
The 900 mHZ radio frequency is transmittable from 500 feet to 15 miles and may be used for up to 125 individual transmissions (1 per tank) simultaneously. Each transmitter provides plug and play installation at the tank site and operates on 9-30VDC. The RF system accepts either modbus RTU (M-Series, digital) or standard 4-20mA (MR Series, analog) sensor output.
While MTS' wireless equipped M-Series digital sensors are ideal for tank farms, the technology is also excellent for pipelines and terminals.
