Arcom Control Systems Launches Latest Embedded Linux with Java(TM) Technology Development Kit for 133MHz PC/104 Embedded PC



Arcom Control Systems, Kansas City and Cambridge, England September l, 2002 - Today announced that it has further expanded its award winning range of Development Kits for Embedded Linux with Java(TM) Technology. The Development Kits provide a ready-to-run platform for a variety of popular embedded operating systems using Arcom's embedded processor boards. The latest Development Kit supports Arcom's 133MHz AMD SC520 based PEGASUS board, a compact PC/104 format embedded PC designed for embedded control and communications applications. The hardware / software Development Kit includes the PEGASUS pre-loaded with a compact implementation of GNU/Linux along with the optional J9(TM) Virtual Machine - IBM's high performance Java virtual machine.

The GNU/Linux operating system uses the proven 2.4 kernel which has been optimized for use on Arcom hardware platforms. The IBM JVM and your Java based application will load and execute directly from the on board 16MByte Flash memory using the high reliability compressed Flash filing system (JFFS2).

This comprehensive Development Kit includes the PEGASUS PC/104 single board computer fitted with 32Mbytes DRAM and 16Mbytes of Flash, PSU, rugged enclosure, serial and Ethernet cable set, Quickstart Manual and the Development Kit Utility CD. Also included is a copy of IBM's award winning WebSphere Studio Device Developer IDE development tools which lets you quickly develop, debug and deploy your Java based application.
