Fiber Optic Lines of Light Provide Range of Illumination Solutions for Specialty Lighting Applications

Irvine, CA, July 2003 - OptiLine® fiber optic lines of light from Poly-Optical are ideal for use as splash and function lighting in small, inaccessible areas, as well as for backlighting a variety of products such as bezels used in consumer electronics, medical and dental equipment, and automotive radio and HVAC controls.

OptiLine provides a very bright line of light for accentuating medical devices, data scanners, and machine vision equipment (such as lighting for line scan cameras).

OptiLine assemblies can provide multi-layered illumination utilizing a mixture of fiber optic layers to achieve multi-colored lighting effects, different degrees of brightness and a variety of appearances, from a neon-like glow to soft, diffuse accent lighting. A multi-tail design allows lines of light to be put into different areas while utilizing only a single light source.

Available in a range of colors, styles and sizes, OptiLine lines of light and lighting assemblies use the latest in super-bright LED technology as a light source, yield long life (50,000 +hours), consume minimal power (30 mA) and are economically priced. Besides saving power and space, there is no heat, no EMI and they are maintenance free. Poly-Optical offers a variety of light sources to interface with the fiber optic lines of light.

OptiLine® lines of light can be designed in a wide range of different configurations and assemblies to meet individual illumination, frontlighting or backlighting requirements. The average thickness of an OptiLine is approximately 0.053" (1.35 mm) for a single layer, typically using styrene as the stiffener.

Pricing for OptiLine lines of light ranges from $0.80 to $1.50 per square inch (per 6.45 cm²).
