TAOS, Inc. Expands 200 DPI-Configuration Linear Sensor Array Product Line with Two New Longer, Faster Arrays
896x1 and 640x1 Linear Sensor Arrays Designed Specifically for Scanning Applications while Operating at 5 MHz Clock
May 21, 2002 (Plano, TX) - Texas Advanced Optoelectronic Solutions®, Inc. (TAOS) announced today that the company is expanding its 200 DPI (Dots-per-Inch) linear sensor array product line with the addition of the TSL2014 and the TSL210. The TSL2014 is an 896xl Linear Sensor Array measuring 112 millimeters (4.4 inches) in length and is designed for scanning standard A6 format-size documents such as bank documents, paper currency notes and labels. The TSL210 is a 640x1 Linear Sensor Array measuring 80 millimeters (3.15 inches) in length. Both devices operate with a maximum clock of 5 MHz.
"The TSL2014 and the TSL2 10 linear sensor arrays are an excellent example of how Lumenology® - the TAOS light sensing technology - can be adapted to meet market needs," said Carlo Strippoli, TAOS vice president of marketing and sales. "The A6 format, for example, has become a standard size for many different types of documents, all of which require scanning. These longer documents can now be scanned much more quickly and efficiently and at an affordable price."
The TSL2014 comes in a 10-pin Glass Epoxy Substrate package with Cover Glass. The TSL210 is in an 18-pin Glass Epoxy Substrate package with Cover Glass. The TSL210 can be configured in a serial mode forming a contiguous 640 pixel array or in a parallel mode with five outputs of 128 pixels each running on a common clock. The TSL2014 can also be configured to run in a serial or parallel mode. In the parallel mode, there are two sections of 448 pixels and in the serial mode a contiguous array of 896 pixels.
The TSL2014 and the TSL210 can be used in a wide variety of other applications including contact imaging, mark and code reading, bar-code reading, edge detection and positioning, OCR (Optical Character Recognition), level detection, and linear and rotational encoding. The longer lengths of the 896xl and 620xl linear sensor arrays allow for greater variety in the types of documents that can to be processed.
The TSL2014 896xl Linear Sensor Array is available now from TAOS, Inc. and its authorized distributors. Samples of the TSL210 640xl Linear Sensor Array are available now from TAOS, Inc. In 1,000-piece quantities, the TSL2014 is priced at $35.39 each. The TSL210 is priced at $27.48 each, in quantities of 1,000.
