Sentech, Incorporated Announces The Release Of Its New DC-Operated HydraStar(R) Linear Position Sensor Specifically Designed For Use In Hydraulic and Pneumatic Cylinders and Actuators
The DC HydraStar® is a variable inductance, non-contact position sensor which provides high accuracy, high response position information. Capable of working in pressures of 3,500 PSI (238 bar), the DC HydraStar(R) consists of a body having a threaded fitting with 0-ring seal which is designed to screw directly into the end of a cylinder. A tubular aluminum core with mounting collar is provided which mounts inside of the hollow or drilled cylinder piston rod. Materials of construction are compatible with virtually all hydraulic fluids. Installation and use of the DC HydraStar(R) is made easier by virtue of the fact that the sensor is only slightly longer than the stroke being measured.
Each unit includes a compact signal processor housed in a NEMA 4 (IP65) rated enclosure. The DC HydraStar(R) requires only +10 to +36V DC power and will produce an output of either 0 to 10V DC or 4 to 20mA for full displacement.
Measurement ranges of from 2.0" (50.8mm) to 24.0" (609mm) are available to permit use in standard range cylinders. Special ranges can be supplied upon request.
The DC HydraStar(R) features linearity of 0.25% and fast response of up to 10k Hz, thus making it well suited for high precision, high response applications.
Several options are available including enhanced accuracy, higher pressure tolerance, connector termination and metric threaded units.
