Linear Motors suit electronic assembly applications.

Press Release Summary:

PLATINUM® DDL Direct Drive Linear Motors, offered with Ironless and Ironcore construction, eliminate all mechanical transmissions. Ironless motors have no attractive force between frameless components and are cog-free. Peak forces range from 13-360 lbf. Ironcore motors provide peak forces from 38-3,513 lbf. PLATINUM® DDL motors feature zero backlash, high stiffness and positional accuracy, and quiet operation.

Direct Drive Linear Motors Ideally Suited to Electronic Assembly Applications

RADFORD, VA - PLATINUM® DDL (Direct Drive Linear) motors from Kollmorgen, a division of Danaher Motion, provide enhanced performance in electronic assembly applications when compared to traditional mechanical-based equivalents (e.g., ball/lead screws, rack & pinions). Their design eliminates all mechanical transmissions, resulting in a compact mechanical assembly with reduced parts; zero maintenance, backlash and compliance; high stiffness and positional accuracy; very smooth velocity; and quiet operation.

Kollmorgen PLATINUM® DDL motors are available with Ironless (slotless) and Ironcore construction. The Ironless motors have no attractive force between the frameless components and are cog-free for ultra smooth motion. They feature peak forces from 13 to 360 lbf (60 N to 1600 N). The Ironcore motors provide peak forces from 38 to 3,513 lbf (170 N to 15,625 N) - the highest force per frame size available when compared to similar motor designs.

Danaher Motion is the leading North American manufacturer of motion control products, components and services. Their customers can be found in the aerospace, defense, packaging, medical, health and fitness, automation, electronic assembly, and semiconductor industries, among others.
