THK Introduces Types SNR/SNS-H Caged Ball(TM) LM Guides for Machine Tools
Schaumburg, IL (August 8, 2002) - THK's new Types SNR/SNS-H Caged Ball(TM) LM Guides combine high rigidity with high speeds, ideal for the machine tool industry.
Compact versions of THK's Type NR standard LM guide, they feature enhanced block, radial, reverse radial and lateral rigidity. By matching the curvature of the rolling surface with the ball diameter, and by increasing the contact surface area of the balls, THK has created Caged Ball(TM) LM Guides with load capacities superior to standard roller types. With the SNR/SNS-H, there is no occurrence of locking phenomena caused by roller skewing in standard roller types.
During rapid operation using this new LM guide, a high degree of positional accuracy is realized. This eliminates differential slip and results in smooth movement.
Smooth movement is further achieved through the incorporation of THK's revolutionary Caged Technology. THK's Caged Ball(TM) Technology isolates each of the load carrying re-circulating balls in their LM guides in an individual cage or pocket. This cage prevents ball-to-ball contact and the associated friction. The cage also acts as a reservoir for lubricants, eliminating the need for an external lubricating system. Specific benefits include increased speed and accuracy of motion, decreased noise levels, long-term, maintenance-free operation and reduced sources of contamination.
The radial Type SNR-H and the four-directional, equal load Type SNS-H are available in identical dimensions. They are compatible with global standard types of linear motion guides.
