'Clean-Up' with New Guth Foodstar(TM) Sealed, NSF-Certified Linear Fluorescent Luminaires

New Product Introduction: Foodstar(TM) - one piece fiberglass dust- and debris-tight fluorescent wrap around with high-ingress protection, that meet the most demanding indoor ambient lighting requirements, in biological contaminant, airborne particulate and corrosive-prone workplaces with extraordinarily stringent ambient lighting requirements.

Design: Guth Lighting In-House Product Design and Engineering Team.

Manufacturer: Guth Lighting, a Philips group brand. Founded 1902 by lighting industry pioneer Edwin Guth.

Product Applications: Guth Foodstar(TM) is light-years ahead of ordinary sealed and gasketed fixtures. Typical Foodstar(TM) applications include research, development and testing laboratories of all kinds; animal and plant vivariums; pharmaceutical manufacturing; -20°F commercial freezers; food processing plants; school gymnasiums; paper mills; treatment plants; coastal areas and other environments.

Product Description: Guth Foodstar(TM) luminaires have a sleek, non-clunky, purpose-built appearance. Each model is a unitized, single-piece rectangular housing, with a hinged ballast tray. Each fixture's corrosion-resistant, moisture- and debris-resistant properties, combined with a clean paint free finish, send visual and functional cues that Foodstar(TM) is a premium instrument.

A one-piece continuous silicone interior gasket, and twelve captive stainless-steel latches provides a dust, particulate and waterproof seal. Contaminant deposit and transfer is prevented, while thorough cleaning, including high-pressure hose downs, is facilitated.

Depending on model specified, illumination is provided by four to six T5 HO, T8 and T8 VHO linear fluorescent lamps in a range of available Kelvin temperatures, allowing fewer light fixtures to be used, with no sacrifice to lumen output.

Construction & Finishes: Guth Foodstar(TM) fixtures are constructed from a one piece injection molded, reinforced fiberglass housing weighing less than half that of steel fixtures and offering greater application versatility. High temperature listings ensure cooler ballast operation and increased ballast life. The lens is injection molded and held with 12 captive stainless steel latches to provide an even gasket seal. The poured in place gasket will not weep and will not take a set. A paint-free finish is standard.

A clear impact resistant DR acrylic or polycarbonate provides extremely high efficiency while presenting a smooth, highly cleanable outer surface. Two optical systems allow for high or low mounting. A rounded ballast housing also cleans easily.

Foodstar(TM) luminaires can be specified for suspended or direct mounting to any kind of ceiling material or construction. Fixtures are CUL 1598 wet-listed, plus UL 746 outdoor and UL 94 flammability listed; IP67-listed for waterproof, dust-proof operation; NSF certified; NEMA 4X rated; operates in up to 40°C (104°F) conditions; and offers a fused electronic ballast.
