Linear Actuators feature absolute position feedback.

Press Release Summary:

Bug series features ABEC-7 angular contact bearings, built-in end of stroke cushion, and interchangeable motor mounting plates. Offering linear speeds from .001-20 ips, series employs Kevlar drive belt and pulleys that provide 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, and 5:1 drive ratios with minimal backlash and low audible noise. Permanently lubricated and sealed series is available with 17 motor options, full stroke lengths from 2.0-8.0 in., and actuation force up to 500 lb.

Redesigned Bug Linear Actuators Feature: Higher Precision, Increased Flexibility, Longer Life, and Greater Structural Integrity!

Mattituck, NY -- The Bug series of linear actuators from Ultra Motion has been redesigned to offer improved strength, precision, and reliability; while keeping the same compact footprint . Because of its small footprint, low weight, and high performance the Bug series is an ideal alternative to a pneumatic or hydraulic system. New features of the redesigned Bug series of linear actuators include: ABEC-7 angular contact bearings, and interchangeable motor mounting plates.

The addition of the ABEC-7 angular contact bearings has resulted in longer life, improved strength, reliability, and precision. Incorporating a more modular approach with the introduction of interchangeable mounting plates, maintenance and reconfiguring the Bug linear actuator with a different motor and/or leadscrew to meet changed requirements of a system is easily accomplished.

A Kevlar drive belt and pulleys provides 1:1, 2:1, 3:1, 4:1, and 5:1 drive ratios with low backlash and low audible noise by eliminating gears between the motor and the drive screw. There are 17 motor options including: DC, DC Servo, DC gearmotors, Steppers, and Animatic "Smart Motors." Absolute position feedback is available so that position is remembered even if power is lost. Travel limits can be set at the controller, with an accuracy of ±0.0003 inch bi-directional and ±0.0001 unidirectional within the operating temperature range of -20°F to +120°F. Linear speeds from .001 to 20 in/sec, built-in end of stroke cushion, full stroke lengths from 2.0 to 8.0 inches and an actuation force up to 500 lbs are desirable features for many valve, pump and lifting applications.

To easily match a Bug linear actuator to an application go to ultramotion.com/products/bug.php. Here a Bug linear actuator can be specified and the force speed curve generated to see if the actuator has been sized correctly.

Bug Series linear actuators are permanently lubricated for maintenance-free life, and sealed so that they are environmentally safe and cleanroom compatible. A variety of end connections and trunnion mounts are available to fit most applications. A matching controller is available featuring LCD position readout, dynamic braking and remote operation. Options include a zero-backlash nut, an anti-backdrive brake and a ballscrew and nut.

Ultra Motion is a manufacturer and supplier of high precision electromechanical linear actuators and matching controllers. Generating high forces, they are the ideal alternative to hydraulic and pneumatic systems. Typically, these clean and quiet, high performance mini-linear actuators are selected for low to moderate power applications when high precision and reliability are important requirements. Using state-of-the-art materials, they are lightweight and very cost effective.
