Original Press Release:

SKF® 'CAT21' Linear Actuators Enable Customization with Standard Components

BETHLEHEM, PA, February 21, 2003 - New SKF® CAT21 electromechanical linear actuators from SKF Magnetic Actuators are designed to be custom-built using standard internal and external components (such as motors, screws, and attachments). Their modular design and reliance on standard parts provide the capability to meet medical and industrial application requirements quickly and easily without the costs typically associated with specially engineered parts or assemblies.

CAT21 actuators can be engineered for a wide range of medical and industrial equipment to perform a variety of functions, including opening/closing, clamping/gripping, raising/lowering, or pushing/pulling. They are compact (ideal for space-limited applications), corrosion-resistant, and maintenance-free for reliable operation in countless repetitive-motion devices.
These new actuators feature high dynamic load capacities (600N) and low energy consumption, while running silently and efficiently over their full load range. Stroke lengths range from 50mm to300mm and speeds of 10-5mm/s can be achieved.

Custom or optional components include front and rear attachments; ambidextrous motor mounting; custom wiring; lead screws and nut combinations; adjustable position sensor switches; and encoders, among others. Full application support is available.
