GE Lighting Introduces Line Voltage MR16

GE Lighting's Revolutionary, New Product Combines Low Voltage Performance with the Convenience of a Screw-Base Socket

When retailers look for a new solution for display lighting, the goal is to provide excellent color and quality of light. However, equally important is meeting their bottom line - consequently, energy efficiency and lamp life are significant factors, as well. Thanks to the engineers at GE Lighting, a new product will be unveiled in December, 2000 which will satisfy all retail display lighting needs - the Line Voltage MR16.

The Line Voltage MR16 combines the advantages of low voltage MR16 lighting and the convenience of a screw-base by using a built-in transformer to convert from low voltage to line voltage. The result is a product that provides better - and more accurate - beam control and dramatic energy savings.

GE Lighting's Line Voltage MR16 is an ideal replacement for a number of existing lamps, including a 50 watt PAR20, 50 watt R20, 60 watt PAR 16 or 75 watt PAR 16. The new product provides at least double the life of its counterparts - producing 5,000 hours of life compared to 2,500 hours previously. In addition, the Line Voltage MR 16 provides more light on target per watt with sharper contrast to background.
According to Steven Briggs, GE Lighting's product manager-halogen, "The Line Voltage MR16 was designed specifically for retail display accent lighting. The product's small, compact size makes its extremely flexible for a wide variety of applications."

GE's Line Voltage MR16 will be available through all GE Lighting distributors. For more information regarding this product, or other products available through GE, please contact your local GE supplier; visit the GE Lighting City of Light web site at www.GELighting.com or call 1-800-GE-LAMPS.
