DALSA Expands Piranha HS Series with Addition of 110 kHz Model

TDI camera delivers highest speed and responsivity; High Sensitivity line scan camera ideal for solar cell, FPD and PCB applications

WATERLOO, ONTARIO - June 24, 2009 - DALSA Corporation (TSX: DSA), a global leader in machine vision technology, today announced the availability of the Piranha HS 4k 110 kHz camera. This new high-speed model features 4k resolution with a 14x14µm pixel size and provides an increased line rate over existing Piranha HS camera models at an incredible 110 kHz line rate and throughput up to 640 MPixels/s. The Piranha HS features DALSA's leading edge TDI technology - an enabler for low light imaging which reduces operating costs and environmental impacts.

The new 110 kHz model offers high responsivity, low noise and high dynamic range, with Camera Link interface and programmable features that position them among the most advanced cameras in the market. Featuring DALSA's cutting edge TDI technology, the Piranha HS 4K 110 kHz camera has responsivity of 11,800DN/njcm² at 0dB 12 bit with 100x anti-blooming capability.

"The expansion of the Piranha HS family is evidence of our continued commitment to our customers and their requirements for faster speed, higher responsivity and better quality imaging," comments Xing-Fei He, Senior Product Manager, DALSA. "We're pleased to be able to deliver linescan technology that meets customer needs and reinforces DALSA as a technology innovator in the industrial imaging market."

Camera configuration is extremely flexible and the throughput and line rate are all software controllable. All cameras are capable of bi-directionality with up to 48 stages of selectability, while preventing over-exposure with anti-blooming. The HS 4k is available in two speed grades, ensuring the best camera throughput can be selected according to the application. It is ideally suited for: solar cell inspection, flat-panel display, electronics manufacturing, document scanning, high performance web inspection and general machine vision applications.

Key features include:
o High responsivity enables high speed in low light applications
o DALSA's TDI technology enables high throughput allowing high volume production at lower costs
o Lowers operational costs for lighting as a result of lower energy consumption
o Compatibility with DALSA's X64-CL Series and Xcelera-CL Series of frame grabbers
o Camera configuration parameters that are all software controllable

The Piranha HS 4k is available immediately in two new models: a 110 kHz version and a 55 kHz version. For a downloadable image of the DALSA Piranha HS 4k, please visit our online media kit.
