Line-Scan Camera Captures 56 Megapixel Images

Capable of capturing up to 150,000 lines per second at reduced resolution, the newly enhanced Wintriss Engineering Opsis7500 line-scan camera will image 5,000 lines per second at its full resolution and can generate 56 megapixel images. The camera features an on-board Motorola 860T PowerPC processor running Wind River's VxWorks real-time operating system and an Altera 10K130 FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) for real-time image processing of images in the camera's internal 256-megabyte memory. Ethernet connectivity provides for low-cost, reliable communication. OEM's will find that their value added software development costs will be substantially reduced because of the ease of interfacing the camera via the VxWorks operating system. The camera also has analog and digital inputs and outputs and a 330-megabyte per second FibreChannel (ANSI X3.230) output for real-time image capture.
