Secures Strategic Design Win for Device with Telrad Networks

FREMONT, Calif., March 5 / -- Exar Corporation (NASDAQ:EXAR), a leading provider of high-performance, mixed-signal silicon solutions for the worldwide communications infrastructure, added an advanced, 14-channel short haul Line Interface Unit (LIU) to the industry's most extensive and scalable T/E LIU portfolio. Also today, Telrad Networks, a leading telecommunications equipment provider, designed in the device for their multi-services access platform and for the AMC CES/EoPDH portfolios.

The XRT83VSH314 implements internal termination that allows the same design to operate in T1, E1, or J1 modes independently on a per channel basis with minimum external components. The device targets varied applications including access devices, media gateways, routers, and frame relay devices.

It contains a crystal-less jitter attenuator for each channel that can be configured in the transmit or the receive direction. Also, because of their inherent flexibility and standards compliance, the LIUs can be used in conjunction with any of Exar's market proven T1/E1/J1 framers. Additionally, the T1/E1/J1 short haul and clock rates are per port selectable through software without changing components. The device can perform internal impedance matching on both receive and transmit for E1, T1, J1, and 120(omega) (E1) applications.
