Liebert Unveils Compact Line-Interactive UPS for Server and Network Protection

PowerSure PSI combines flexibility, performance and reliability

COLUMBUS, Ohio (Sept. 9, 2003) Liebert® Corporation, an Emerson Network Power company, today introduced the PowerSure PSI, a compact, line-interactive uninterruptible power supply (UPS) for server and network power protection. The feature-rich PowerSure PSI provides reliable, high performance power protection in sizes up to 3 kVA. It can be configured as a self-standing mini-tower or rack-mounted within a 2U space, making it ideal for servers, storage systems, networking equipment and large network peripherals.

The PowerSure PSI features double-boost, single-buck technology to protect against surges and sags in incoming power, and user-replaceable, hot-swappable batteries. Communication options include USB, Serial and SNMP. The SNMP option uses Liebert's OpenComms® Web Card to enable remote monitoring and control of the UPS from the network management station or through the Web.

"For applications that can't justify the cost of a double-conversion UPS, PowerSure PSI provides a flexible, feature-rich power protection solution delivering outstanding performance and reliability," said Tony Marrow, PowerSure product manager at Liebert. "It's designed for easy installation and maintenance in a variety of applications with monitoring and communication capabilities normally found only on much larger systems."

PowerSure PSI features:
- Serial, USB and SNMP Communications options: The serial communication option uses Liebert Multi-Link automated shutdown software to monitor communications between the UPS and protected equipment. The USB option uses Windows (XP and 2000) or Macintosh (OS X 10.2 or later) built-in power management functions to provide monitoring of UPS status and manage the shutdown of protected systems if a power outage exceeds battery capacity. The SNMP option enables remote management and monitoring.
- Seven to eight battery-backed outlets: Provides flexibility in accommodating additional equipment.
- Data line surge protection for telephone/fax/DSL/modem: Protects modems, phone, fax, network, Internet, DSL and other communication equipment connected to the UPS.
- User replaceable hot swappable batteries: Increases product life and provides prolonged UPS reliable service.
- Configurable input voltage window: Matches the UPS to incoming utility power and adjusts its input window and transfer points to supply precisely regulated power to its connected loads within the selected range.
- Full sequenced battery testing: Three battery testing options: upon startup of the UPS, automatic 14-day battery test and a manual test.
- Lightning and surge protection: The transient voltage surge suppression (TVSS) circuitry protects connected equipment from incoming spikes, surges, and other power anomalies present on the incoming utility power source.
-Remote emergency power off: Allows the UPS to be remotely shut down during an emergency.

Microsoft and Apple Computer, Inc., have certified the PowerSure PSI for use with Windows (XP and 2000) and Macintosh OS X (version 10.2 or later), respectively.

PowerSure PSI pricing ranges from $367 to $650, depending upon the model. For more information about PowerSure PSI, or other Liebert products, visit www.liebert.com or call 1-800-877-9222.
