Sipex Announces High Speed, 3V, Quad Differential Line Driver and Receiver

New Devices Support Data Rates up to 60Mbps in the Industry Standard 26C31 and 26C32 Footprint

(Milpitas, CA - March 09, 2004) - Sipex Corporation (NASDAQ: SIPX), a leading provider of high performance, analog integrated circuits (ICs), today introduced the SP26LV431 and SP26LV432. The SP26LV431 is a quad channel RS422 line driver. Its companion device, the SP26LV431 is a quad channel receiver. Both devices are EIA/TIA-422-B compliant and provide pin-out compatible with the industry standard 26C31 and 26C32 footprint. These devices are ideal for point-to-point or multi-drop transmission lines with up to 10 receivers per segment over links up to 4000 feet. Four independent channels and very high maximum data rates make these products an ideal upgrade for carrying data and timing signals over high performance buses or backplanes.

"With data rates up to 60Mbps, the SP26LV431 and SP26LV432 offer a very compelling feature set resulting in the most cost effective solution at this performance level," said Kevin Plouse, senior vice president of marketing and business development at Sipex.

SP26LV431 & SP26LV432 Key Features (typical):
o Up to 60Mbps data rate per channel, sufficient to match T-3/E3, OC-1, or HSSI line rates
o Less than 1ns driver output skew maximum
o Open-receiver failsafe protection (SP26LV432)
o Excellent noise rejection
o 3.0 to 3.6V operation
o 200mV receiver sensitivity over +/-7.0V common mode range
o Positive or negative polarity enable-control pins
o Industry standard package and pin-out footprints

Prices and Availability
Prices start at $1.65 for 1,000 piece quantities. Samples are available now. Both devices are available in 16 pin narrow SOIC and plastic DIP packages.

About Sipex Interface Products
Sipex's family of interface ICs facilitate the transfer of digital signals between or within electronic systems and ensure reliable, wired connectivity between networks, computers, and the rapidly expanding mix of digital peripherals and portable devices that connect to them. The serial interface product family contains RS232/RS422/RS485 high speed, differential transceivers and multiprotocol transceivers. Sipex offers the largest portfolio of multiprotocol transceivers in the market addressing key areas of concerns such as One-Chip solution, high speed, high ESD and on-board termination resistors.
