Linde-Engineered System Tailored for Scaled Demand

C02 Supercritical Fluid Extraction Technology for Today and Tomorrow's Pharmaceutical Production

CLEVELAND, Nov. 14 -- Linde Gas LLC will supply its first supercritical carbon dioxide pump system to Illinois manufacturer Regis Technologies Inc. for use in supercritical fluid extraction applications. Regis Technologies manufactures complex, multi-step custom synthetic products for the pharmaceutical, diagnostic, and biotech industries. This installation underscores Linde's continued product and service portfolio expansion to the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. In laboratory applications, the Linde-engineered pump system provides a superior extraction method for compound analysis or purification. Immediate safety and environmental benefits result from the dramatic reduction in solvents required in typical processes.

"We chose what we feel is the best product on the market for a reliable flow of supercritical CO2 for our application," stated Francis Mannerino, Director of Chromatography, Regis Technologies. "Reliability and flexibility make Linde's pump system the ideal long-term solution for our process."

Linde's system offers the advantage of steady, reliable flow of CO2 at a constant pressure. With its low maintenance design, the system is packaged in a compact cabinet for maximum flexibility. Tailored to suit unique production needs, the pump meets a wide range of operating capacities, thus eliminating the need for upgrades when process requirements change. Complete redundancy is built into the system to enable seamless production during maintenance operations.

Michael Abshire, Linde's Market Segment Manager for Pharmaceutical and Biotechnology Industries, is confident this innovative pump system will find increasing acceptance for supercritical fluid extraction applications within the pharmaceutical industry. "We've engineered a system driven by the inherent requirements of supercritical fluid extraction systems currently used in laboratory applications. Because we work with our customers to design their pump system, they benefit today and will continue to see production benefits into the future."
