CoreTEK Industries, Inc. of Titusville, FL introduces the highest strike potential device in the industry for Category 5 data-line protection! These new protectors offer a full 20,000 watts of protection compared to the industry norm of 1,500 watts. Units were tested repeatedly with an 8/20 micro waveform at 6kV/3kA, without failure. The peak voltage seen at the output was 33.2 Volts.
Field tests were conducted to verify real-time CAT 5 functionality. A 326-ft. cable, longer than the limit for a CAT 5 link (308-ft.) was used. As expected, the cable caused a length test failure. However, the longer cable was chosen to prove the ability of the new products to operate beyond current CAT 5 requirements. Category 5 High Current protectors are also available for both analog and digital phone circuits, which make them ideal for Voice over IP.
