Lighting Science Group Launches a Brighter, More Affordable Line of LED Bulbs on Amazon.com

Earth Day Just Became a Whole Lot Brighter

SATELLITE BEACH, Fla., April 21, 2011 - Lighting Science Group (OTCBB: LSCG)-a leader in the ultra-efficient lighting revolution-will launch on Earth Day a campaign to bring low cost, high output LED lighting to more households and businesses across the country. The company will list its first in a series of high quality, yet affordable, LED products on Amazon.com, America's largest online retailer.

Priced at $21.98, Lighting Science Group's new 40 watt equivalent A19 omnidirectional, 8.5 watt LED bulb is 75% more efficient than the typical incandescent bulb it replaces and can last up to 23 years. By way of comparison, the company's omnidirectional 40 watt equivalent LED bulb is more efficient than GE's omnidirectional Energy Smart A19 40 watt equivalent bulb, and retails for approximately half the price.

"Americans can transform every day into Earth Day by installing LED lighting," said Rich Weinberg, chairman and chief executive officer of Lighting Science Group. "Put one of our ultra-efficient bulbs in a lamp and don't worry about changing it for many years to come-that's convenience and energy savings that consumers can count on."

In addition to the new 40 watt equivalent A19 omnidirectional LED bulb, consumers will soon be able to buy on Amazon.com a 60 watt equivalent version as well as BR, MR and PAR LED bulb types. Independent tests show that the lumen (light) output of these new LED bulbs is unrivaled-outperforming comparable products by 25-30%. In addition, the bulbs are more energy efficient than equivalent CFLs and contain no mercury, are "instant on", are completely recyclable, and offer outstanding light quality.

"Lighting accounts for more than 18% of the average U.S. household's energy bill-that's because incandescent bulbs are essentially space heaters that give off a little bit of light. On Earth Day, say 'no' to high energy bills and 'yes' to protecting the environment and saving money by purchasing our LED bulbs," added Weinberg.

To ensure performance and reliability, all of Lighting Science Group's new LED bulbs were tested under the rigorous LM-79 process by an independent laboratory approved by the U.S. Department of Energy's CALiPER program.
